5 Songs to get you through the Monday Blues

How can it possibly be Monday again? And much worse its the longest school week of the year; the week before spring break. Im not offering a spoon full of sugar, but I am spooning out these 5 songs to numb the pain. Just think, 5 songs, and only 5 days until Friday. Charleston here I come!

1) Simple Song, The Shins

Their new album, Port of Morrow, comes out March 22nd. After the release of Simple Song, I’m a little less anxious. After five years of waiting, it more than met my expectations. Check out the music video if your like me and want more of The Shins and can’t wait until the 22nd.

2) Going and Going. And Going, Icebird (feat. RJD2 and Aaron Livingston)

Icebird formed in the LA area in the early 2000s. Their sound is a mixture between post-punk and southern rock. And with a guest appearance from RJD2 and Aaron Livingston you know its going to be a great track.

3) Rumba, Sound of Rum

Not that I’m a big fan of Nicki Minaj, but in my opinion she should watch her back. Lead singer and rapper, Kate Tempest, can certainly spit it out. Ferry Lawrenson & Archie Marsh make up the rest of London’s Sound of Rum. With only one recorded album, their best is yet to come.

4) Serenade, Steve Miller Band

You can’t make a decent playlist without a little bit of the classics. Steve Miller Band has been one of my recent favorites since I bought Fly Like and Eagle on vinyl.

5) Cats and Dogs, The Head and the Heart

Nothing like ending to the Monday blues with The Head and the Heart. Thanks to my friend Samantha I just scored a ticket to their sold out show in Athens. I can’t wait! Their the next big thing for indie rock.
